Dr. Arto Demirjian: Renowned dentist in medical research

Did you know that the growth curves used to assess children’s development were created by a dentist? Dr. Arto Demirjian is an Armenian dentist from Istanbul who is a professor emeritus at the Université de Montréal. An avid researcher, he is credited with inventing the “Demirjian method”, used worldwide to solve crimes by determining the dental age of deceased persons. But he is best known as the father of the growth curves used in every CLSC and hospital in Quebec to monitor children’s health. This dentist was an outstanding teacher for Dr. Annick Lapointe, and she feels proud to have been his student.
